History of Modern Fashion Design

Founded in 2002, LAILA has collected, curated, and presented a diverse range of fashion designs shaped by history. For its first exhibition, LA MUSEUM will showcase a selection of archived pieces through a carefully curated display.

The second half of the exhibition, titled 1950s - 2010s Part 2, focuses on fashion from the 1980s onward. It features works by pioneering Japanese designers such as Comme des Garçons, Yohji Yamamoto, and Issey Miyake, alongside creations by Helmut Lang, John Galliano, Alexander McQueen, and designers from Antwerp. The curation extends to 2017 with Phoebe Philo’s influential work, offering a comprehensive exploration of fashion history through the lenses of design, art, and culture. Additionally, the exhibition will present Maison Martin Margiela’s collections from his debut to 1999, showcasing key pieces from each season.
