The upcoming exhibition, “THE [DINNER] JEANS CLASSICS,” opening on September 25th, 2025, will present—exclusively online—a curated selection of “Dinner Jeans” collected over many years by Daisuke Obana, designer of N.HOOLYWOOD.
In the late 1990s, while working as a vintage buyer, Obana encountered what would later become known as “Dinner Jeans” at a shop in Los Angeles. He noticed that the style-savvy staff preferred these uniquely styled jeans—sparking his interest and starting his collection of jeans spanning various eras and designs. Originally born as workwear, jeans evolved into fashion garments through artistic embellishments on pockets, tailored creases, and dressier silhouettes—transforming into true statement pieces. This transformation captivated Obana. His collection reflects the diverse, often undefined, world of what might be loosely categorized as “Dinner Jeans”—jeans designed with creative intent. With this exhibition, Obana invites viewers to discover and feel firsthand the rich variety and expressive potential of these “designed jeans.”
